1. RULES
1.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing.
1.2 The organizing authority is the New Bedford Yacht Club, So. Dartmouth, MA, USA.
1.3 The regatta is designated Category C in accordance with ISAF Regulation 20.
1.4 The NA Laser Masters rule regarding the full, radial and 4.7 rigs will be in effect for
this regatta. All rigs are eligible to race and will start on the same start line at the
same time. Unlimited rig swapping is allowed provided rig changes are only made
ashore. Any age group may use any rigs in any race as long as the same sail number
is used. See: ILCA-NA for details.
2. ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
2.1 Competitors who are members of the International Laser Class Association and who
have reached the age indicated in the categories below by Friday, June 20, 2008 are
eligible to compete.
2.2 Masters Categories:
Apprentice – 35-44 years of age
Master – 45-54 tears of age
Grand Master – 55-64 years of age
Great Grand Master – 65+ years of age
2.3 Eligible boats may enter by completing the entry form at time of registration or
requesting a registration form by calling the New Bedford Yacht Club at
(508) 997-0762. They can also be downloaded from
www.nbyc.com as follows; Clickon “Regattas” in the lower right, then select “Laser Masters”, then select
“Registration”.
3. FEES
3.1 Required fees
Checks should be made payable to New Bedford Yacht Club. The entry fee is
$135 USD.
A late fee of $25 USD will be charged after May 31, 2008.3.2 The entry fee includes water provided on the course, keg Friday after racing, dinner
on Saturday night, hamburger cookout Sunday after racing and a regatta souvenir.
4. SCHEDULE
4.1 Thursday June 19:
1700 – 2000 Registration
Friday June 20:
0800 – 1030 Registration
1100 – Skippers’ Meeting
1300 – First Warning Signal, races to follow
Saturday June 21:
1200 – First Warning Signal, races to follow
1900 – Dinner
Sunday June 22:
1200 – First Warning Signal, races to follow
Hamburger cookout immediately following racing
Awards ASAP after last race
4.2 Ten (10) races are scheduled for this event. The number of races each day will be
adjusted by the race committee to accommodate weather conditions.
4.3 No warning signal will be made after 1500 on the final day of the regatta.
5. MEASUREMENTS
Sails, blades and boats may be measured prior to racing, and may be spot checked at any
time during the regatta. Please ensure your sail numbers are applied in accordance with
ILCA class rules.
6. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
The sailing instructions will be available during on-site registration.
7. VENUE
The racing area will be Buzzards Bay off Padanaram South Dartmouth, MA.
8. THE COURSES
The course to be sailed will be Windward-Leeward or Triangle-Windward-Leeward.
9. SCORING
9.1 The Low Point Scoring System, Appendix A4, will be used except as modified below.
9.2 Ten races are scheduled. A minimum of one race must be completed to constitute a
regatta.
9.3 When six or more races are completed a sailor may discard his worst score.
9.4 NA Master handicap system will apply. All trophies will be determined by each
competitor’s overall finish after handicap points have been applied.
10. PRIZES
Prizes will be awarded to 1
st overall, 1st – 3rd all age groups, 1st female overall.11. SUPPORT BOATS

nly boats which have registered with the Race Committee will be allowed in the racing area.12. SAFETY
Boats should have a separate towing line and capsize mast retention system as per Laser class
rules.
13. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
Competitors participate in the regatta at their own risk. See Rule 4, Decision to Race. The
organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or
death sustained in conjunction with prior to, during, or after the regatta.
